Camel in the courtyard
In the week that turned out to be the week the Queen died, we had another extra-ordinary event at Harland Works when a camel came to visit. This particular camel had booked a courtyard table in the cafe (seriously!) earlier that morning, and arrived from its Warwickshire stables looking very handsome to play its part in a photo shoot.
We all loved having Kokoso visit - he was a true professional and showed great magnanimity in putting up with all our excitement and photo taking. He is owned by Joseph’s Amazing Camels and has quite a pedigree having appeared with celebrities such as Jeremy Clerkson and David Attenborough. You can see some great photos by googling Kokoso the camel ;)
A bit later, when the courtyard was quiet, we got the extra-ordinary news that the Queen was seriously ill. A cafe customer, who worksfor one of the many charities for whom the Queen was a patron, had been informed earlier in the day and had spent the day hot-desking in the cafe, working on the charity’s statements in response to the announcement, the following day, of her death.
It was It was all a bit of a shock: an unusual, and memorable day at Harland Works.
