Update from our April Repair Cafe
Repair cafe Sunday 14th April
It was a fairly quiet repair cafe this month - perhaps everyone was out enjoying the sunshine! For some people though, repairs were on their minds and agenda.
Marilyn brought in a smoothie maker where the blades weren’t spinning. She thought this might be an electrical issue, but after some investigation by Gordon, it turned out it was a mechanical issue. He swiftly sorted it and Marilyn and her repaired blender were on their way
Helen brought in a printer where the paper wasn’t feeding. Steve took a look, and upon further inspection it turned out that there was a battery stuck in there! Once removed it worked fine again.
Simon expertly sharpened a pair of secateurs for Charlotte and some scissors for Emma.
On the sewing table, Nila repaired a jacket cuff for Charlotte and Ceri repaired the soles on a pair of slippers. Marilyn asked Ceri and Nila for some advice about repairing a tote bag.
Tom brought in a hoover that wasn’t working after rolling it over a metal carpet cover strip. He had tried a new fuse in the plug but it didn’t help. Dave took a look at it, but wasn’t able to get it going again. Similarly John’s coffee machine looked at by Steve wasn’t fixable either.
Volunteer Ceri brought in some kitchen scales, which weren’t turning on even with a new battery in place. Charlotte brought the same brand scales with the same issue! Charlotte’s scales fixed by Gordon, Ceri’s scales were still being temperamental.
Emma brought in a favourite lamp that needed rewiring. Steve took a look, and gave some advice that the unit needed replacing due to a switch issue, and suggested fitting a cable clamp.
Our next cafe is on 12th May - we hope to see you there!
