Come and celebrate the launch of two brand new collections by Sheffield poets Helen Mort and Suzannah Evans. Helen will be launching her third collection of poetry, The Illustrated Woman, published by Chatto & Windus, and Suzannah Evans will be launching her second book, Space Baby, with Nine Arches Press.
The Illustrated Woman is a tender and incisive collection of works from Helen Mort about what it means to live in a female body - from the joys and struggles of new motherhood to the trauma of deepfakes. Amidst the landscapes of the Peak District and the glaciers of Greenland, Helen Mort's remarkable poems transfix the reader in a celebration of beauty and resilience.
Space Baby, the second collection by Suzannah Evans, asks difficult questions about the Earth, its beings, and what lies ahead for them; how do we look to the future on a planet that’s burning? How do we come to terms with our grief, and what can we believe in? If the human race destroys what we have, where will we go?
Your ticket gets you one free drink from the cafe, and grants you access to the space to mingle with a drink, listen to the authors talk about their works, and maybe even buy copies of the new books. Further refreshments and bites can be bought from John St Kitchen cafe.
