Untapped Potential

I came across this article and read it with interest because of the work that Flycheese, one of the tenants at Harland Works, does. They work with young people with autism to give them high level skills in animation - for which many have a real aptitude as well as love doing.

This article, written by Jonathan Laloz, the founder and CEO of an innovative Australian based company called Self++ (https://selfplus.plus) makes the powerful point that neurodiverse people offer untapped potential - and that, because they are untapped, they suffer from MUCH lower rates of employment and pay. And that was #beforecovid. I guess the worry is, how are things going to look #postcovid?

Jonathan says: "It's not always easy for employers to see the value in hiring and supporting people with neurodiverse thinking styles" he makes the point that neurodiverse people - of which he counts himself as one - "need different types of support to help us flourish, both in life and in the workplace. But we also have unique abilities to do things many neurotypical people might not be able to do”.

He suggests: "So the next time you need help with your business, consider the benefits of hiring someone who identifies as neurodiverse. They have the ability to give you a unique competitive edge by looking at the world through a different lens".

If you would like to explore the opportunity to have an animation created about your business then it might be worth talking to Flycheese as they will consider collaborations with local small businesses. In the first instance, you can contact studio manager Wallace Fennessy wallaceflycheese@gmail.com.

The work that Flycheese do has always been important - in a post covid world it might be needed even more than ever so it'd be great to see more businesses partnering with them - and enjoying the benefits of seeing some fun animations about their business come to life!
